Tea Creek – Film Screening with Special Guest from the film Jacob Beaton
April 2, 2025, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
The Geography Climate Action Committee, in collaboration with the Geography Student Association (GSA), would like to invite you to our last event of the term, organised by student member, Steven Townsend.
This event is an upcoming screening of Tea Creek, an inspiring documentary that explores Indigenous food sovereignty, climate resilience, and the impacts of colonization—followed by a live Q&A with Tea Creek farm co-founder Jacob Beaton.
Guest Speaker
Following the film we will have a Q&A session with our special guest Jacob Beaton
Jacob Beaton is an award-winning Indigenous entrepreneur and leader with previous business successes under his belt. Jacob holds the traditional name Dzap’l Gye’a̱win Skiik, meaning a busy eagle, or an eagle who gets things done.
Film Description
Against the backdrop of colonization and the climate crisis, Jacob Beaton, a passionate Indigenous entrepreneur, has embarked on a remarkable journey. His vision is to transform his family farm into a beacon of hope for Indigenous food sovereignty. In a world where the connection to the land has been fractured, Jacob aims to revive the abundance that once defined Turtle Island.
Warning: This program contains brief discussion of suicide, as well as the impacts of residential schools. Viewer discretion is advised.
