How a Grassroots NGO is Reducing Climate Change’s Impacts on Women’s Health in Northern Kenya
October 17, 2024, 6:30 pm to 7:00 pm
The pastoralist communities in Northern Kenya are among the most vulnerable populations to the impact of climate change due to intensifying droughts that are threatening the livelihoods of the people in this region. Women in these communities in particular are disproportionately affected.
A group of community members from Wajir region in Northern Kenya formed and established a community-based organization, Alternative Livelihoods for Pastoralist Communities (ALPC), to mitigate the pressing climate induced crises in their own communities, and to address the needs of vulnerable women pastoralists in particular.
Join BCCIC and ORICE downtown Vancouver on October 17 to hear from Yussuf Osman, the Program Director of ALPC to hear about their impactful work, the lessons they’ve learned, and the evidence behind their efforts to improve health outcomes amidst this climate crisis. Don’t miss this opportunity to engage on this important topic and gather insights that could shape future interventions.
