COP30 Examined - A Climate Conversation
November 24, 2025, 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm
The Conference of the Parties (COP) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference brings together world leaders, policy experts, non-governmental organizations, and civil society to discuss climate action.
These gatherings provide the opportunity for governments to officially negotiate international agreements, take stock of global progress on implementation, and present national climate plans. Civil society, including academia, plays an important role at COP, holding parties accountable for their commitments and working to advance climate solutions.
In this Climate Conversation, hear from Thais Ayres Rebello, who attended COP30 as a part of UBC's online delegation, and Professor John Janmaat.
Join in on the conversation about the progress made at COP30, as well as the topics that remain unaddressed. Anticipated topics include international climate finance, carbon markets, and nationally determined contributions. Bring your thoughts on the possibilities and limitations of international negotiation frameworks like COP.
This event is a part of our Climate Conversations, a series to provide informal opportunities to connect with colleagues on pressing climate topics, locally and globally. Registration is not required for this event. However, you can share your email at the bottom of this page to receive an email reminder for this event.
