On April 25th, 2026, the Climate Solutions Research Collective and UBC Sustainability Hub co-hosted climate scientist and science writer Kate Marvel.
Known both for her research on climate systems as well as her powerful storytelling about climate change, she originally trained as a physicist, earning her PhD in theoretical physics from the University of Cambridge, before turning her focus to climate science.
In addition to her public talk, Kate met with faculty from UBC and SFU, staff engaged in climate communications, and students in the Solutions Scholars Program. We asked a few students to share some of their reflections.
